Real Estate Networking Events in Houston: A 2026 Directory for Students and Early-Career Professionals
Guide · by the uhures.com archive editors · updated 2026-10-08

Checked in October 2026. Prices, member counts, and event patterns below come from official chapter and association pages dated 2025 and 2026. Organizations without a dated official page are left out of the table.
Real estate networking events in Houston, Texas, are the luncheons, happy hours, tours, and annual award programs run by commercial real estate associations and, separately, the investor meetups that fill Meetup and Eventbrite. The professional associations draw brokers, developers, lenders, and property managers. For a student, the useful ones are the chapters that publish a student or young-leader rate, listed in the table below.
Are real estate networking events worth it?
For a student or early-career professional, they are worth it when the cost is low and the room contains the people who hire, and Houston's commercial associations often make the cost low. Opinion: the value comes from showing up repeatedly at one or two organizations, not from collecting a dozen memberships.
The published prices support that. The CCIM Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter listed its July 2026 luncheon at $40 for chapter members, $60 for non-members, and $10 for university students. Houston BOMA states that students "may join at no cost once approved." ULI Houston says Young Leaders can attend an event for free by volunteering, writing social media posts, or writing a recap.
Is going to networking events worth it?
It is worth it if you treat each event as a way to meet a few specific people and follow up, not as a place to hand out a resume. That is an editorial view, not a sourced statistic. The sources show the entry cost is low for students. They do not measure job outcomes.
The archived Undergraduate Real Estate Scholars (URES) events page described the same approach. It said the organization participated "in local networking events hosted by prominent real estate organizations to gain industry knowledge and foster relationships with professionals," and that "URES members have been actively attending CCIM, CREW, NAIOP, and ULI events." The full wording is on the archived URES events page. URES was a student organization at the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business. Its pages are preserved on this site as an archive.
"Shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide."Urban Land Institute, mission statement (uli.org, read October 2026)
Directory of Houston commercial real estate organizations (2026)
The table covers five organizations that have a dated official page showing activity in 2025 or 2026. Dues are listed only where the organization publishes them. "Not published" means the official page did not show a price.

IREM Houston is not in the table. No dated official chapter page could be confirmed for 2026, so it is listed as not verified rather than described from older material.
ULI Houston: the strongest fit for students
ULI Houston runs a Young Leaders Group for early-career professionals and students under 35. According to ULI Houston (2026), it started the Young Leaders program in 2002, and the program now has representation in every district council. Its events include happy hours and tours, plus a Young Leader Mentorship Program and a Real Estate Graduate Workshop Program.
The wider organization is large. According to the Urban Land Institute (2026), it has "45,000+ members." Many ULI Houston Young Leaders events are open to non-members at non-member rates, so a first visit does not require paying dues.
CREDA Houston, formerly NAIOP Houston
NAIOP Houston changed its name. The chapter's 2026 site says "NAIOP Houston is now CREDA Houston," says its "commitment to Greater Houston's CRE community remains the same," and describes the parent as the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. According to CREDA Houston (2026), the association represents more than 21,000 members across 54 chapters in North America.
The detail that matters for students is access. The chapter's events page states that events are open to members and sponsors only and that reservation is required. The Developing Leaders program serves professionals age 35 and under and pairs small groups with a mentor for the year. A student who wants to attend will probably need a member or sponsor to bring them, which is an inference from the access rule, not a stated policy.
"Through mentorship, education, and shared experience, this organization creates opportunities for young professionals to learn, grow, and build lasting relationships with leaders across commercial real estate."Philip Croker, chapter president, CREDA Houston (2026)
CCIM Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter
The CCIM chapter publishes the clearest student pricing in Houston. Its membership page lists an Academic category that is free for full-time college students, and it lists Designee and Candidate memberships at $120, Affiliate at $150, and Young Professional at $89. The chapter was formed in 1981 with about 30 members, according to its own history page.
Its calendar shows the usual pattern: a monthly luncheon at a Post Oak restaurant, CCIM courses, a scholarship golf tournament, a food bank volunteer afternoon, and a holiday party. The February 2026 forecast competition charged university students $20, chapter members $115, and non-members $135. Details are on the CCIM Houston membership page.
CREW Houston and Houston BOMA
CREW Houston was founded in 1996 to connect commercial real estate women in Houston. CREW Network, the parent organization, describes "nearly 14,000 professionals" in 85+ major markets (crewnetwork.org, read October 2026). The chapter's own pages show other figures, so the parent's number is used here. Applicants attend a CREW Houston event if applicable, may need a member sponsor, and receive an invoice from CREW Network after approval. Membership dues are not published. Its awards page named Rising Star, Mentor, and Networking Story of the Year categories, with nominations that closed December 1, 2025. Its CREW Careers program is aimed at high school girls.
Houston BOMA serves property managers and building engineers. Its student membership is free for undergraduates with an active school email address, and the Real Estate Affiliate category for brokers, owners, and accountants is $800. The Houston BOMA Expo is held every May at the George R. Brown Convention Center with 200+ exhibitor booths and 1,500+ total attendees, according to the association. Attendance is limited to property management professionals and building engineers, so students should check eligibility first. See the Houston BOMA membership page.
Professional associations, investor meetups, HAR, conferences, and Bisnow: what is the difference?
These groups get mixed together in search results, but they serve different people.
- Professional CRE associations (ULI Houston, CREDA Houston, CCIM, CREW Houston, Houston BOMA, sometimes searched as BOMA Houston, and IREM Houston) are membership organizations with recurring chapter events for brokers, developers, lenders, and managers.
- Investor meetups (REIA Houston, the Houston Multifamily Investing Club on Meetup) are for individual investors. The Houston Multifamily Investing Club listed 261 members in October 2026 and describes monthly events in a "SALES-FREE" setting. REIA Houston's October 2026 listing was a live session on wholesaling versus flipping. They show that investor events exist, but this guide does not rate them.
- HAR, the Houston Association of REALTORS, is a residential-focused body. It describes itself as a "more than 50,000 member organization" founded in 1918.
- National conferences such as the ULI Fall Meeting and ICSC LAS VEGAS are large annual gatherings, not local chapter events.
- Bisnow is a media company. Its events page lists the Houston Bisnow Multifamily Annual Conference and offers sponsorship, so it sells conference events rather than running a member association.
What are the biggest real estate conferences in 2026?
The largest commercial real estate conferences of 2026 are ICSC LAS VEGAS, the ULI Spring and Fall Meetings, and the CREDA Conference. ICSC LAS VEGAS ran May 18 to 20, 2026, and promised "over 25,000 decisionmakers," according to ICSC (2026).
ULI holds a Spring Meeting each May and a Fall Meeting each autumn. The 2026 meetings are Nashville (May 5 to 7) and Miami Beach (October 26 to 28), and ULI's published schedule already lists Seattle for spring 2027 and Philadelphia for fall 2027. The CREDA Conference, formerly CRE.Converge and the NAIOP Fall Conference, is the association's annual fall conference. The 2026 edition was held in Denver in early October, per a sponsor's event page. These cost far more than a chapter luncheon, and for a first year in the industry the local chapters are the better starting point. That last point is an opinion.
How do I find real estate networking events in Houston?
Start with the official calendars of the chapters above, then add one investor source if you want to compare. Each association posts its own events, and the registration page shows the student price.
- Pick two organizations from the table that match your target role. Property management points to Houston BOMA, investment sales and brokerage to CCIM or CREDA, development and planning to ULI.
- Open the event calendar and look for a luncheon or a Young Leaders event, which tend to be the lowest-cost entry points.
- Check the registration page for a student line and for member-only wording.
- Use Meetup and Eventbrite as a secondary check. They list investor groups, and their pages are not a source for chapter details.
The venues named on these official pages, such as Post Oak Boulevard, the George R. Brown Convention Center, and the Junior League of Houston on Briar Oaks Lane, are inside the city rather than the suburbs, so check the venue line before assuming a drive from Katy or The Woodlands.
For the career side, see the guides on how to get into commercial real estate and commercial real estate internships. The archived URES board of directors page shows how a student organization in this field was structured.
Attending for the first time as a student
Register under the student line where one exists, and register early. CCIM Houston's July 2026 luncheon listed students at $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event, against $60 for non-members. Houston BOMA's free student membership requires an active school-issued email address and approval before the member rate applies. ULI Houston gives a free seat to Young Leaders who volunteer, write a social media post, or write an event recap, and lets non-members attend many events at non-member rates. CREDA Houston lists events as members and sponsors only, so a student will probably need a member or sponsor to bring them. That is an inference, not a stated policy. CREW Houston's application asks prospective members to attend a CREW Houston event first, which makes one event a reasonable starting point.
The archived URES events page described the same pattern: attending CCIM, CREW, NAIOP, and ULI events as a group to gain industry knowledge and build relationships with professionals. Opinion: pick one organization, attend two or three events in a row, and follow up with the same people each time.
FAQ
Can a student attend a Houston real estate networking event without being a member?
Sometimes. ULI Houston says non-members can attend many Young Leaders and ULI events without YLG rates, and the CCIM chapter prices a non-member luncheon seat at $60. CREDA Houston lists its events as members and sponsors only.
Is NAIOP Houston still active?
The organization continues under a new name. The chapter's 2026 website says "NAIOP Houston is now CREDA Houston" and states the mission is unchanged.
Do the associations only serve commercial brokers?
No. The sources describe members across development, finance, property management, architecture, planning, and law. HAR is the residential-focused exception and lists commercial members as well.
Are Meetup and Eventbrite events useful for commercial real estate careers?
They can be, but they skew toward individual investors. Opinion: for a student targeting a brokerage, REIT, or developer job, the association calendars are the more direct route.
